1. Difference between Speak and Talk:
  "Speak" refers to one sided communication while "Talk" refers to communication between two persons.

Examples: He speaks loudly. (One sided communication)
                    He  talks to me. ( Communication between two persons)
 Single Word Substitution:
1. A citizen of the world: Cosmopolite
2. A drug or other substance that induces sleep: Soporific
3. A government by the rich: Plutocracy
4. A great lover of books: Bibliophile
5. A government by the Nobles: Aristocracy
6. A man devoid of kind feeling and sympathy: Callous
7. A person who attacks first: Aggressor
8. A person who hates women: Misogynist
9. A person who does not believe in marriage: Misogamist
10.  A person who loves everybody: Altruist          

IMPORTANT GRAMMATICAL TERMS:

BROAD NEGATIVE: Some adverbs such as 'seldom', 'barely', 'scarcely', 'hardly', 'rarely' etc. are used to make a sentence almost negative.
Examples: 1. They were 'scarcely' able to play. (Expressing negative sense)
                  2. A barking dog seldom bites. (Expressing Negative sense)

SUMMATION PLURALS: Summation Plurals refer to those articles and tools, having two equal parts which are joined.  
Examples: 1. Binoculars (Instrument, consisting of two parts)
                  2. Trousers  (Article/ garment, consisting of two parts)
                  3. Spectacles (Instrument, consisting of two parts)


ACCORDING TO ( Third Person Referent)

Meaning: ‘as reported’

When a reference is made to external evidence to support a statement or an opinion, according to is used. 

It is used to refer to statistics, official reports, surveys, opinion polls, studies, research, etc.

Examples: 

It’s the same in every block, according to Cliff, the caretaker.
According to the safety experts, it was all right when they left it.

NOTE: According to can not be used to refer to one’s own views or statements. According to refers to evidence from someone or somewhere else.

According to me, Ram is a good student.  (Incorrect)

In my opinion, Ram is a good student. ✓


ACCORDING TO

Meaning: ‘in agreement with’

According to is also used to refer to ‘in line with’, ‘in harmony with’ or ‘depending on’. In this context, the sentence does not begin with ‘according to’. 

Example: Is it being done according to the plan?
